As part of Operation Warp Speed, Pine State Services was asked to step up to assist in creating the first mass-vaccination site in Maine. Scarborough Downs was donated for use as a high-volume vaccination clinic by its owner, Crossroad Holdings, and our team has been working around the clock to provide new heating systems and bathrooms to prepare the 500-acre facility to open in just 15 days.
As part of the project, we’ve installed indoor air quality ionization components in all forced hot air systems in order to help neutralize bacteria and viruses that may pass through the ventilation systems.
41 Maine-based companies came together to redevelop the track’s grandstand in time to welcome its first patients on February 3. Long-term, the site is expected to staff over 100 MaineHealth employees and volunteers. MaineHealth hopes to administer vaccines to at least 2,000 people each day once they’re able to get more vaccines from the state.
We’re proud of our team that stepped up to meet the demand that Operation Warp Speed needed of us to provide a comfortable, ventilated space for the community. The clinic is expected to operate for at least six months and currently operates from 7 AM to 7 PM, Monday through Friday.
From MaineHealth: Per state guidelines, MaineHealth is currently offering vaccine appointments at clinics across the state to people 70 and older. While those outside this group aren’t eligible for the vaccine at this time, anyone may pre-register—patients will receive a call to schedule an appointment once they are eligible. Visit the MaineHealth website for FAQs and information on pre-registration. Patients seeking a vaccination appointment can call the MaineHealth COVID-19 Vaccine Assistant at 1-877-780-7545.
