Here at Pine State Services, we take pride in giving back to our community however we can. We’re always looking for causes we feel we can support, and there may be no better cause than supporting the fight against children’s cancer. Sadly, dozens of children across the state of Maine are diagnosed with cancer every year, and many of them turn to the Maine Children’s Cancer Program for assistance through one of the most traumatic and uncertain parts of their young lives.
At Pine State Services, we want to give back and support those families who are facing this incredibly difficult time, and that’s why we’re partnering with the Maine Children’s Cancer Program for a fundraiser program that we will be taking part in all summer long! Between Memorial Day and Labor Day of 2020, we’re hoping to raise a total of $40,000, and we need your help to do so!
Here’s how it works: for every Mitsubishi heat pump system our team installed, we will donate $150 to the MCCP, and that gift will be matched for another $150. Throughout this summer, we will also be collecting additional donations and partaking in fundraising events with the MCCP all summer long, and our hope is to reach this lofty goal of $40,000. We know it will be difficult to reach this lofty target, but we believe that with the help of our caring community and the generosity of our friends and customers who have supported us over the years, we’re confident we can hit it!
Together, we can raise vital funding to support Maine’s youngest cancer fighters. If you’re considering installing a heat pump this year, this summer may be the best time. Not only is Maine offering some lucrative incentives to switch away from old oil or gas-burning heaters to pure-electric heat pumps, but you can also benefit a tremendous cause and support young children battling one of the most serious medical conditions they can have. Mitsubishi heat pump systems have been widely regarded as some of the highest-quality heat pumps available on the market, being tremendously efficient, packed with technology, and capable of operating at or near full-capacity in temperatures down well below freezing.
About the Maine Children’s Cancer Program
The Maine Children’s Cancer Program is the Pediatric Oncology program of The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center. This program offers medical care and treatment to children who have been diagnosed with a variety of blood disorders and cancers across the state of Maine and parts of New Hampshire. The program assigns each patient a team of doctors, nurses, and even social workers that remain with the patient throughout their treatment for comfort and familiarity through what is an extremely frightening time.
They also take part in extensive clinical research for pediatric cancer, including treatments, sharing information, and more. The MCCP is a member of the Children’s Oncology Group and has even partnered with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on treatment protocols. Finally, they also offer support services for both children and family members. With three social workers on staff, they can provide everything from counseling and therapy to other social support assistance for both patients and their families.
Each year, anywhere between 50 and 60 kids in the state of Maine are diagnosed with some form of cancer, and the battle with this disease is rarely a short one. An average of 200 children are on active treatment for cancer at any given time, including kids in Maine, New Hampshire, and the surrounding areas.
